someone changed my Steam email and password

I have no idea what might be going on or how they even got my data. For some time now, I’ve been getting several emails from Microsoft saying that someone tried to use my account from several different countries.

And yesterday I got an email from Steam saying that the password for my account had been changed. I quickly tried to use the “recover my account” link by sending the recovery link to my email, but the email address is no longer the same.

I have bank receipts for a good part of the games I own. Some of them were gifts.

Do you think I can get my account back? I’m waiting for a reply from support.

I asked a friend to check, and my profile has been online since yesterday.

This has already happened to me at least twice, and both times I managed to recover the account through support, which replies very quickly, by the way. Both times it happened, they asked me to prove the account was really mine by sending receipts for the games I bought and, if possible, a bank statement with the purchase. Because whoever changed the email had access to your email and also to the receipts. So it’s best to send as much proof as possible.

It’s all going to be fine.
