I went to test a SATA cable here that came with it and the cable wouldn’t come out, so I forced it a little (not too hard, I kept trying and trying to pull it out) and it left usage marks from the two little “teeth” of the SATA cable on the port, and it’s bothering me even though it’s not that visible. What do I do? How do I deal with this messed‑up OCD?
It’s as if, internally, on the blue port in the photo below, there were two little marks. And the worst part is the motherboard is new, ffs.
I’m not going to use those ports, I’ll use an SSD anyway, but the little mark will stay there, a small thing but it bothers me a bit.
How would you deal with it?
P.S.: Yes, I pressed to remove it but that crap wouldn’t come out. Then I managed to remove it but two little bits were left and now I’m sad because I damaged something new that I bought.
I’m thinking of getting another board soon and not making the same mistake (maybe the same model). It’s not that I have money to throw away on this kind of thing, but it really bothers me.
If you’re not going to use it then I don’t see a problem. It depends on the case and your peripherals; depending on where those ports are, the video card should hide them 100%. And if it doesn’t, I doubt they’ll be visible.
If it’s working, I wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve already bought a processor with some weird marks on the connectors and it’s still working to this day lol. And like, the graphics card is also one of the cheapest parts of the PC.
there are contact cleaner products, but I wouldn’t use them if you really can’t see what you’re doing. You have to know how to apply it so you don’t end up burning the rest.
I’m seeing those two little dots on the fourth port? That’s more or less how it looks on mine.
The plastic got a bit worn when I was trying to pull out the cable. I just hope that mark doesn’t bother me so much that I end up wanting to replace the damn motherboard.
It’s nothing. It’s just what’s needed to hold the cable in place. But even so, that’s not going to make it come loose. If it comes to that, you still have 3 other ports. But as people have already said, HDD is something obsolete nowadays.
