is there a big difference between an SSD and an NVMe M.2 SSD for gaming?

I’m a layman when it comes to this stuff. I’ve always had problems with Windows: loading very slowly, games taking a long time to open, copying files from one folder to another taking ages, etc.

A friend who knows about this kind of thing ended up recommending that I buy an SSD. So I did. What arrived was one of those slightly bigger “boxes” that look like a cassette. It connects with 1 SATA cable + a power cable.

After doing a lot of research, I realized that my motherboard has native support for an NVMe M.2 SSD. I went to check the difference between the two and really regretted it!! Because my “regular” SSD reads at speeds of up to 535 MB/s (better than an HDD), but an NVMe M.2 SSD goes up to 7000 MB/s (7 GB ), 13x faster, for a price difference that isn’t even that big.

But can you actually feel that in games and when starting Windows? And about durability: does a SATA SSD last longer over time than an NVMe M.2, or is it the other way around? Should I return my SSD to get an NVMe?

Here’s a picture of what I bought to better illustrate what I’m talking about
