The return to the universe of The Witcher (2007) is farther off than fans imagined. Recently, a financial report released by analysts at Noble Securities indicated that the remake of the classic RPG should only be launched in 2028.
Announced in 2022 by CD Projekt Red, the project was presented as a complete reconstruction of the original title with modern technology and new technical foundations, while preserving Geralt of Rivia’s journey. Development is in the hands of Fool’s Theory, a studio formed by veterans who have already worked on the franchise. However, there has been absolute silence: no trailer, no gameplay demonstration, and few official updates since the announcement.
According to the report, the longer schedule is directly tied to CD Projekt’s internal priorities. At the moment, the studio’s focus is on The Witcher 4, which is expected to inaugurate a new phase of the franchise, this time under the leadership of protagonist Ciri. With resources and attention directed toward this larger project, the remake has ended up taking a back seat within the company’s strategy.
Because of this, it is likely that concrete news about the remake will only appear after The Witcher 4 is closer to release.
