This topic had already been discussed for more than 10 years behind the scenes at Warner Bros. Pictures. A lot was debated about who would handle the production and making of the movie. Between Shawn Levy and Rob McElhenney, creators of Deadpool & Wolverine and the series Mythic Quest, until in the end it was made by Jared Hess, after having been abandoned by Peter Sollett.
The Minecraft movie is expected to be released in 2025. Among the actors are Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon, and Jemaine Clement. Casting took place between May 2023 and January 2024, with filming starting between January and April 2024 in New Zealand.
The movie tells the story of 4 people with a boring life who go to the “Overworld” and do incredible things to survive. Kind of like Jumanji, only in Minecraft.
