What should I watch out for when buying a used graphics card online?

This weekend I arranged with a guy from OLX to pick up a second‑hand graphics card. A 3060 Ti that I think is at a great price.

My question is: what precautions should I take?

You can ask for a video of the card working, but even that can be faked nowadays. The guy could have recorded the video earlier.

I’m thinking of going to test it at his place, but even so I don’t feel very comfortable going to a stranger’s house like that.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on what to do to be sure I’m making a good deal?

From just looking at it there’s nothing, right? Maybe the condition of the thermal paste?

Thanks to everyone who helps me.

I think the safest thing is really to test it at the guy’s place, man. While you’re at it, check what he has installed on the PC, then you’ll know if he really uses it for games or for something else that puts a heavy load on the card.

I forgot the name of the program, but install that program that shows the card’s temperature, how many percent it’s using, and the FPS. But the main thing is the temperature.

Ask him if he changed anything. If he did overclock or something else.

Be careful if the price is too cheap.

Before buying a used one that might cause problems later, take a look here first, my dear: graphics card on sale
