Is Steam refunds the new game demos?

The days when you had the option to download a demo version of games before definitely buying them are gone. That game you downloaded and could play up to a certain stage, or could play for several days before the message asking you to buy the full version appeared.

For the elders, we had the option to buy a CD at the newsstand. It came with dozens of games in their demo versions.

But unfortunately times have changed. Nowadays, if you want to test a game without paying, you’ll have to wait until Steam or Epic releases a free version, or a temporarily free one (usually over a weekend).

But luckily on Steam they give you the option to get a refund for a game you bought and didn’t play much. The only 2 requirements are:

  • Not having played the game in question for more than two hours

  • No more than 14 days having passed between the purchase date and the refund request date

If both requirements are met, your refund will arrive through the same method you used to buy the game.

To request a refund, just:

  1. Open Steam
  2. Click on “Help and Support”
  3. Open your purchase history
  4. Click on the refund request button.
