It’s been a long time since I’ve seen something that really surprised me. Like when we went from PlayStation 1 to PlayStation 2. That really was a huge leap, the difference in graphics was absolutely insane. It left me open-mouthed for days.

But nowadays, it feels like we’ve frozen in time. Even today you can still play most games decently with an RX 580. Every year there’s a new RTX. 30xx, 40xx, 50xx, but the technology is almost the same. It doesn’t change that much. This year they came up with putting AI into the effects, which was heavily criticized by gamers, but aside from that, it feels like that’s it. We’ve hit the limit of possible realism.
Just for the record, the jump from PS4 to PS5 was the smallest in history:
