Do adults really play just for fun?

I have a theory that people only really have fun with games when they’re kids, or up through their teenage years, at most around 17. I think no one enjoys them like they used to anymore. I’ve been reading a lot of posts like this on Reddit. Clearly people buy games, play for 10 minutes and get bored, and never open that game again. And this becomes a repetitive cycle, because you think: “ah, but with that game it’s going to be different,” and then you realize everything has started all over again.

Actually, I think the game is no longer the problem. It’s just that you don’t have the same tastes anymore. You shouldn’t be blaming yourself for that. It might be that this taste comes back someday, with some new game that reminds you of when you still liked it. Like with a new GTA franchise, Mario…

I think you have a point: “games that make you remember when you still liked it.” When the game doesn’t have that intention, it will hardly attract an adult’s attention.
