I don’t think it will take long before these huge, noisy boxes full of cables become a thing of the past.
I think that in the future, everyone will have a subscription gaming plan. Like the GeForce Now we have today, but just for PlayStation, Xbox, and other platforms.
Internet speed has evolved a lot thanks to fiber. In some places in the world it’s already possible to download at up to 10 Gbps (via cable). And even with Wi‑Fi limits, it’s already possible to play comfortably via cloud if you’re on a well‑optimized platform.
I think this is a good thing for people who travel a lot, or always have to take their video game to friends’ houses, on trips, etc.
I just hope that day comes soon.
