It’s strange to see what internet forums have become nowadays

In a not-so-distant past, forums were what was really booming. I used to participate in several. Terra Games, Click 21, “Game Vício” and countless other communities that don’t even exist anymore.

And every day another forum shuts down saying they’re going to migrate to Discord due to lack of activity, like what happened with “Game Vício”, Players, Spice Engine, Ragnarok Online forum.

Meanwhile, the other forums that are still “standing” are abandoned. With very little activity. 5 new registrations per week, 3 new topics each month, until they finally close for good.

Back then, forums had value. People made personalized avatars and signatures with their nicknames, and they even paid for VIP just to have their nick in color so they could show off.

The content was the best part. It was the most beautiful thing there was. Long, well-organized texts, with images and videos. It was really cool. While nowadays it’s the famous “if it’s more than one line I don’t even read it.”

Anyway, a truly sad end for forums. Congratulations to those who encouraged migrations to Discord and Reddit. The day they need a real discussion, they’ll see how great it is to talk to ChatGPT and have their questions answered by it.

That was my rant. Thanks, bye.

it was the golden age of the internet. if you notice, now almost everything is in the same place, making most other sites look “empty”
