Tutorial: How to Make Your Own Physical Media

I know a lot of people will be looking for this after Sony’s announcement. So I’m leaving a tutorial here. Keep in mind that it’s only valid for those who play on PC, via Steam. In the tutorial, you’ll be using a CD/DVD or Blu-ray.

You’ll use Steam’s native game backup feature.

You’ll print the cover yourself.

The game will open automatically as soon as you insert the disc into the PC, via the launcher you created yourself.

In the tutorial, you can also put several games on the same disc and create a selection menu so you can choose which game you want to play.

Really cool. I watched the whole video. You can see the guy’s love for physical media. Even a sticker on the disc to make it look like the original. I’m glad people choose this method. The video is from December 2025; the guy wasn’t even counting on Sony’s announcement. He must have been really surprised to see his video blowing up now.

Another alternative is to make the backup on an HDD/SSD just for games. Technically, it’s a kind of physical media 2.0. Too bad it’s so expensive these days.

Another point is that you can do it on GOG too.

I think physical media will still be worth a lot in the future.

Physical versions of GTA V and Cyberpunk 2077 will cost more than gold
