Do computer viruses still exist?

I was thinking about this today. On the first PC I ever had, the tech guy installed an antivirus and even charged me for it. But I remember that from the very beginning I never really liked the idea of having that on my PC. It was always beeping, and I also noticed it made the computer a lot slower.

It’s been a long time since I last used any antivirus at all. And I think that in all these years I never caught anything. At least I don’t think I did.

Today I still feel the same way. I still think those programs make the PC way slower.

But do viruses like before still exist?

I remember that back in my day, the most “hyped” virus at the time was the Trojan horse, and the best antiviruses were Kaspersky and Norton. I don’t even know how to spell them.

There are, however, browsers (Firefox and Chrome) that have been getting better at preventing this. The Windows and Linux systems too. But if you’re careless, you can still end up installing malicious programs.
