After almost two decades of waiting, the return of Capcom’s iconic samurai franchise is closer than ever! Recently, director Satoru Nihei confirmed that Onimusha: Way of the Sword is already in its finalization phase.
The news was shared on social media, where Nihei thanked fans for the positive reception of the upcoming game, while also raising hopes for the reveal of the official release date: “The entire team is working on the final stages of development. Please look forward to our next announcement!”
Onimusha: Way of the Sword features protagonist Musashi Miyamoto, a samurai who carries a powerful artifact capable of destroying monsters that inhabit the underworld. According to Nihei, the title will not be a soulslike, but will have combat adapted to a more modern style, encouraging players to analyze enemy movements and wait for the right moment to execute each strike.
Finally, it’s important to remember that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will not be connected to the previous games in the franchise. The game is confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
