The Witcher Remake may only be released at the end of the decade

The return to The Witcher (2007) universe is further away than fans expected. Recently, a financial report released by analysts at Noble Securities indicates that the remake of the classic RPG should only be released in 2028.

Announced in 2022 by CD Projekt Red, the project was presented as a complete reconstruction of the original title with modern technology and new technical foundations, while preserving Geralt of Rivia’s journey. Development is in the hands of Fool’s Theory, a studio formed by veterans who have already worked on the franchise. However, there has been complete silence: no trailer, no gameplay demo, and few official updates since the announcement.

According to the report, the longer schedule is directly tied to CD Projekt’s internal priorities. At the moment, the studio’s focus is on The Witcher 4, which should usher in a new phase of the franchise, this time under the leadership of protagonist Ciri. With resources and attention directed toward this larger project, the remake has ended up taking a back seat within the company’s strategy.

Therefore, it is likely that concrete news about the remake will only appear after The Witcher 4 is closer to release.

thinking about the end of the decade makes it seem far away. but if you think about it, 2028 isn’t that far off, time goes by fast
